Place an 8” round, double layer cake on a 10” cake board and base ice with white icing. With a Decorating Comb, comb the sides of the cake to create ridges.
Using Grass Green Airbrush color, airbrush a 2”W border around the base of the cake.
Continuing with the Grass Green airbrush color, create a section of grass on the top of the cake. This section should be a little over half of the top of the cake. Make the top edge like an arc.
Using Hawaiian Blue Airbrush color, airbrush blue sky on the top of the cake.
Airbrush a small rectangular basketball court on the top of the cake in the green section using Midnight Black Airbrush Color.
Using white icing and Piping Tip #8, pipe a basketball backboard on the top of the cake. Align the backboard with the court. Pipe a rectangle shape and then fill it in. Smooth with a spatula or knife.
With Piping Tip #3, use Red icing to pipe a square in the center of the backboard and a free throw lane on the black court.
Switch to Royal Blue icing and pipe a 3-point line on the black basketball court.
Using white icing, and Piping Tip #3, pipe a basketball net at the base of the backboard.
Add a basketball hoop to the backboard and net by piping a Sunset Orange circle using Piping Tip #5.
Using Piping Tip #4 and Golden Yellow icing, pipe the three “swoosh” marks by letting the icing build up at first and then continue piping a long line creating a tapered look.
Using Piping Tip #10 Pipe a white reverse bead border on the top edge of the cake.
Pipe a reverse bead border around the base of the cake, using Sunset Orange icing and Piping Tip #10.
Place the basketball on the top of the cake.
Pipe inscription if desired.
