So gather your brainy friends for a Big Bang Theory viewing party but leave "BAZINGA" out of it because this cake is no joke. 

How-To Make a Big Bang Thoery Bazinga Cake

What You’ll Need

  • 2 - 9" x 13" Sheet Cakes
  • Big Bang Theory Bazinga PhotoCake® Edible Cake Image
  • 6 Cups White Icing
  • 2 Cups Brown or Chocolate Icing
  • 2 Cups Purple Icing
  • 1 Cup Orange Icing
  • 1/2 Cup Green Icing
  • Brown Premium Gel Color
  • Violet Premium Gel Color
  • Grass Green Premium Gel Color
  • Neon Orange Premium Gel Color
  • Brights Fondant DecoSheets®, Lavendar
  • Brown Fondant DecoSheets®
  • Piping Decorating Tip #789

  • Step 1

    Bake 2 – 9” x 13” cakes and trim sides straight down. 

    Start with your bottom tier. Base ice white and smooth.  

  • Step 2

    Using Piping Tip #789, pipe a comb border on three sides of the cake leaving one 13” side bare – this side will be your bookend.  

  • Step 3

    Measure the length and height of your cake. Using a Fondant & Pastry Cutter, use the measurements to cut a book cover and spine out of Brown Fondant DecoSheets®.  

    Fondant should be around a quarter inch larger than your cake. 

  • Step 4

    Apply the long strip of brown fondant to the bare 13” side. Gently press to secure. 

  • Step 5

    Apply the trimmed brown fondant piece to the top of your cake and gently press to secure.

    Tip: Make sure the edge of the fondant sticks out slightly over the comb border. 

  • Step 6

    Pipe brown or chocolate icing around the base of your cake using Piping Tip #8. 

  • Step 7

    Using Piping Tip #8, outline the top and corners of the brown fondant with brown or chocolate icing. 

  • Step 8

    Add details to the spine of your book with two vertical lines. 

  • Step 9

    Using Piping Tip #3, pipe a neon orange book title.

    Tip: We used “Quantum Physics” but YOU can pick whatever title you wish! 

  • Step 10

    Place your 2nd cake on a White Corrugated Quarter Sheet Cake Board.

    With an X-Acto Knife, cut the cake board to match the size of your cake. Leave a little room on each edge to allow for a border. 

  • Step 11

    Repeat steps 1 – 5 using Lavender Fondant DecoSheets®. 

  • Step 12

    Stack the purple cake onto the brown cake at an angle. 

  • Step 13

    Pipe purple icing around the base of your purple cake using Piping Tip #8. 

  • Step 14

    Outline the top and corners in purple icing and add four vertical lines to the spine of the book with Piping Tip #8. 

  • Step 15

    Using Piping Tip #3, pipe a white book title on the spine of the book.

    Tip: We used “String Theory” but again, you can pick whatever title you wish!

  • Step 16

    Using the Big Bang Theory Bazinga PhotoCake® Edible Cake Image, remove about 1 inch from the bottom and 1 inch from the top.

    Tip: Use a ruler to achieve straight lines. 

  • Step 17

    Remove the top edges and flip over. With white icing, cover the entire image and smooth using a spatula.

    Tip: This will keep the purple fondant from bleeding through the image. 

  • Step 18

    Apply the edible image to the bottom center of the purple cake, leaving room at the top. 

  • Step 19

    Using Piping Tip #8, pipe a purple outline of a beaker around the edible image and up the top.

    Tip: Outline the beaker before you pipe to make sure sizing is perfect. Simply use a scriber tool and gently press to leave a faint line. 

  • Step 20

    Using Piping Tip #3, create a sign wave with neon orange.

  • Step 21

    Using Piping Tip #3, pipe an atom using neon orange, grass green, and white.

  • Step 22

    Finish it off by adding white bubbles inside the beaker with Piping Tip #3.

    And… BAZINGA!
