Dive into Dory’s biggest adventure yet with this fintastic cake. Disney•Pixar Finding Dory comes to life with wavy seaweed, flowy anemone and coral reef details all made from easy-to-create fondant DecoShapes®. Complete with bubbles and piped fish, this under-water wonder is sure to make a splash.
Create your seaweed before working on your cake. Using the Pastel Green Fondant DecoShapes® Strips, cut each strip in half with a Fondant Cutter to create a total of 16 strips.
Form a wavy pattern with each strip. Set aside and let harden.
Tip: Seaweed isn’t perfect so your green strips don’t have to be either!
Base ice a triple-layer 8” cake teal. Using a decorating triangle, create the look of waves by moving the comb up and down on the sides of the cake.
Tip: Don’t worry about the bottom being a bit messy, it will be covered.
Pipe white icing on the base of the cake using an open coupler. Use a spatula to smooth and create a textured look.
Immediately after smoothing the white icing, top and cover with Gold Sugar Sanding.
Tip: If your icing has hardened, the sanding sugar will not stick.
Place seaweed along the sides of the cake. Cut seaweed strips with scissors to acheive desired lengths.
Tip: Be creative! To achieve the look of an ocean scene, seaweed can be any length.
Place Finding Dory Fintastic Adventures DecoSet® Cake Topper on top of the back half of the cake.
Using Small Grass Decorating Tip #133, pipe neon green grass in small groupings next to the DecoSet and around the base of the sand.
Using Bright Pink Fondant DecoShapes® Strips, cut out 2 inch portions. Cut 1 inch slits into each portion.
Bundle three pink fondant portions together to create the look of anemone. Place one bundle on top of the cake in the grass section of icing and four around the base of the rock formation.
Using the medium and large Bright Lavender Fondant DecoShapes® Dots, pinch the sides of the dot together and place in groups of three or four to create clusters of coral.
Tip: If your fondant dots start to dry out, warm them in your hands to make them pliable.
Using the large Bright Blue Fondant DecoShapes® Dots, curl the sides in. Create clusters of three on top and around the base of the rock formation.
Pipe neon orange spirals in groups of three using Piping Tip #5.
Pipe small white dots up the side of the cake using Piping Tip #2 to acheive the look of bubbles.
Pipe a group of neon green fish on the front of the cake using Piping Tip #2.
